Taking Your Permit Test
After completing your state-approved course, it's time to take your permit test! Visit one of our 6 Colorado locations to take your test.
Getting Processed
Once you pass your permit test, you will need to make an appointment at the DMV to get your documents processed. Once you have completed this step, its time to start practicing with your parents.
Complete your Behind-the-wheel training
If you are under 16 years and 6 months old, Colorado requires you to complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a certified instructor. This training is included with most of our programs when you complete driver education with us. You will also need to hold your permit for 365 days and complete 50 hours of driving practice with a parent or guardian, including 40 daytime hours and 10 nighttime hours.
Take your driving test!
After holding your permit for 365 days and completing the required behind-the-wheel practice hours, you are eligible to take your driving test and continue toward earning your Colorado driver’s license.
